A contemporary fusion of classical Persian mystical poetry, jazz, indie, and orchestral music, combining traditional Middle Eastern instruments with modern harmony, orchestral textures, and polyrhythmic rhythmic structures. The project is rooted in the fusion genre while preserving the lyrical and spiritual essence of Persian literature.
Artistic Context & Process:
Baba Taher Trilogy is a concept project centered on the poetry of the 11th-century Persian poet Baba Taher. The trilogy consists of three original compositions—Darmoon, Ghalandar, and Seh—each reinterpreting classical Persian poetry through a contemporary musical language.
The project marks the beginning of a larger artistic series dedicated to reimagining the works of major Persian poets from the 10th and 11th centuries, presenting Iranian literary heritage through a modern international musical perspective.
All compositions were conceived and composed by Babak Khangholi, who also developed the initial artistic concept and led the overall musical direction of the project.
